claim thesis for an argument paper

An argument paper is built upon a claim.

Keep in mind that the claim is the thesis of the essay. Therefore, YOU CANNOT PROVE THE CLAIM IS TRUE OR “RIGHT.” If you could prove it to be true, then there would be no argument left. You would have written a report.

For example, I can claim that more women than men are enrolled at Community College. But, I could prove that is true by providing the enrollment records. So that claim claim cannot be the thesis of an essay.
