Background

Aegis Inc. is a home inspection firm based in the Northern Virginia area. The President of the company, Ms. Rose Wilson, is concerned about the morale of the sales team. Ms. Wilson had contracted a local firm to survey the employees of Aegis Inc. and the results were delivered to her in an EXCEL spreadsheet. She has tasked her Vice President of Human Resources, Mark Wolfe, to analyse the results of the survey and to report the results to her. Ms. Wilson told Mark that she was concerned about the attitudes of the sales force. In addition to the questions that were asked some additional data were recorded: the most recent base annual salary, commission and total pay, the years of seniority, the sales region of the individual, the gender (0=male, 1=female) and the number of contracts written in the pay period.

 

The survey instructions indicated that the first 5 questions were measured using a 5-point scale using the following key: 1 = strongly disagree, 2 = disagree, 3 = neither agree nor disagree, 4 = agree, 5 = strongly agree. The questions were as follows:

As a group: Answer the following questions involving Descriptive Statistics

Draw (create) a random sample of 50 from the full database then answer the following questions. You will ultimately use the sample of 50 from the full population of 408 to compare and contrast the sample and the population in the questions below. Typically you would not have the data for the entire population (such as in an election). So the point of this project is to use various statistical methods to examine how well your sample matches the population. It is obvious that the charts, figures etc. for the population should be the same for each group (or individual) that does this project. However, I would not expect to see the same results for any two groups (or individuals) samples since they are created using the Random number generator (RNG) mentioned below. This is a detailed and important project in this course, start early and take the time to do a good job. This assignment is worth twice what any one exam is worth.

Write a 3-4 paragraph paper in which you:

1.     Clearly state the “mystery” and provide a brief summary of at least two (2) reasonable and scholarly theories which could explain the mystery. Because some theories may sound far-fetched, include the source or promoter of each theory – such as a scientist, a historian, a theologian, etc.

2.     Identify one (1) of the theories as the most plausible and provide at least two (2) convincing reasons why the theory you have chosen is the best one to explain the mystery.

Attachment Styles

We have learned that attachment occurs due to safety needs, but what if these needs were not met? In this discussion, you will consider attachment styles and potential outcomes when conditions are not ideal for attachment, as well as the interaction between attachment styles and temperament.

Kandi is an 11-year-old girl who has lived in Centervale with a foster family, the Jacksons, for one month. She has been in foster care most of her life, having been removed from her biological parents’ care at the age of 10 months. Kandi’s parents were addicted to drugs and alcohol and Kandi spent most of her infancy in her crib or playpen, alone in her room. It is likely that Kandi was exposed to drugs and alcohol in utero. It is unknown whether, in addition to neglect, she was abused sexually or physically. These are possibilities given her parents’ addictions and presence of multiple adults in her house at any given time. Since Kandi’s arrival, her foster parents have noted several behaviors that seem odd. Despite her sweet personality, Kandi loses her temper easily. She hugs people indiscriminately, while at the same time pushing others away. At times, Kandi avoids her foster mother or seems unconcerned with her not being in the room. At other times, she becomes very distraught and cries frantically when her foster mother goes to the laundry room. She has a difficult time interacting socially with the other children at Centervale Elementary and has only a few friends. At the same time, she clings to her teacher, constantly hugging her, and even trying to kiss her. Although she has been provided with toys, books, and games, Kandi collects odd things such as used staples or the rubber pieces left over from pencils.
