Situational (Hersey & Blanchard)
In this assignment, you should choose a multinational firm of non-U.S. origin. (e.g. Royal Dutch Shell, Hyundai automobiles, Haier appliances) Make sure that you choose a company about which sufficient information is readily available to use for your analysis.
Imagine that you have been appointed CEO of the company you have chosen, and you want to use one of theories/model of leadership listed in Module 2, Assignment 1 as a guide to lead the organization. This could be the same theory/model you selected and analyzed in that assignment or you can choose one of the others.
You should create a PowerPoint presentation consisting of approximately 10–12 slides (not including the title slide and the References listing). Apply the current APA standards for writing style. All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources.
In your presentation, you should include:
- An explanation of the leadership style, such as task-oriented, relationship-oriented, charismatic, transformational, situational, and so on, that you find most effective.
- A discussion of the appropriateness and applicability of your leadership model in the cultural environment of your chosen company. Make sure that you provide a rationale for your opinion.
- An explanation of the leadership approach that is most likely favored in the company you selected. Make sure you discuss why this might be the case.
In each instance, use Hofstede’s criteria and your research from books and articles to support your opinion
Complete your presentation with speaker notes, citations, and visual aids such as tables, charts, data, links, and images. Remember, this is a PowerPoint presentation, not a paper simply pasted into the PowerPoint format. It is particularly important that you use the Speaker’s Notes to include a lot of the information that you cannot use on the individual slides.
