When a plate is said to move northeast at the rate of one inch per year, to what is the movement relative to? Besides these readings, what other evidence have scientists found that all the Earth’s landmasses were once connected? And which mountain ranges are still being formed, which ones are eroding? What kind of a fault is associated with the Great East African Rift Valley?

3.) Tornadoes are violent and quite unpredictable, while hurricanes and typhons are large and slow-moving but more destructive. Use library and Internet resources to find the similarities and differences between these types of storms. Please answer at least three of the following five questions: Make sure that you indicate which question you are answering so your classmates can follow your discussions.

 1)Where would you most likely find these three storm types, and what conditions are favorable for their formation?

2) In the USA, what regions are most at risk, and why?
