Topic and thesis:
Over the decades, Global transportation has been one of the factors that foster change in the world’s economy. Uncertainties and variabilities facing global transportation systems have become important areas of interest for professional in developing tools and models to enhance freight movements. Many researchers are working to create new techniques and tools for refining effective throughput and pliability of the numerous freight systems such as trucking, rail freight, Air freight and sea cargo. They also discover approaches of improving proficiency at perilous intermodal boundary points like trucking terminals, sea ports and railroad plots. The world’s economy is determined by the strength of the global transportation systems with respect to reliability, safety and efficiency of freight transportation. Some tragic events that have occurred and evident in the global transportation sector have proved that there is a loophole of vulnerability where terrorists and criminals can potentially disrupt and take advantage of (Kant, et al). The step to safeguard global transportation against future terror attacks has resulted to border delays, high shipping charges, inventory increases, increased travel time among other extra charges which call for improvement in resilience, productivity and safety of the global transportation systems and networks. In this respect, it is paramount for the global economy to initiate effective, efficient and secure transportation systems. Therefore, this paper will respond to the following research question;
* What are the impacts of uncertainties and variabilities regarding global transportation?
