1. Fundamental Movement Competencies
Identify the minimal motor competencies that a child should possess for optimal lifelong movement participation (discuss whether or not this list is the same as what you would recommend as the minimal motor competencies required for long-term athlete development). Also provide examples of strategies for how children can acquire your identified list of movement competencies at sufficent levels of proficiency (e.g., if an emphasis is on the development of balance, a strategy may be to recommend enrolment and participation in structured dance classes). Be sure to provide a rationale for all of your recommendations and comparisons based on developmentally appropriate programming and motor behaviour principles, while keeping in mind contemporary issues (e.g., socioeconomic status).
2. Establishing a Sport School
Identify and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of establishing a Sport School/Sport Academy System for children and youth in Canada. Be sure to consider both the long-term development of the athletic pool across sporting disciplines, as well as the health and well-being of the general population. Finally, provide a succinct overview of the Sport School/Sport Academy Approach that you would advocate for in Canada and/or British Columbia.
3. Increasing Quality Movement Experiences in Canada
