Drug Courts represent a major shift in the traditional ideology of both the Criminal Justice and the Mental Health systems. For Criminal Justice, it takes us away from the punishment mode to one of treatment. For Mental health, it contradicts its long-held belief that clients need to volunteer for treatment in order for treatment to be successful.
